This medallion from the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch. Designed by the talented Paul Beadle and minted at the Royal Australian Mint, this medallion was given to all participants and officials of the games.
The design features Maori Maraia facing inwards, supporting the games symbol at the center. Interestingly, competitors who placed 1st to 3rd received similar medals without the games symbol, allowing them to be personalized with engravings in the center.
